Loctite 242 et Loctite 243
These adhesives are flagship products of the 200 range. They fit into LOCTITE's range of fluid brake products. They are a sturdy alternative to mechanical brakes. Whether used for permanent or removable brake applications, they can reduce repair and production costs by preventing fasteners from loosening, corroding, or seizing.
LOCTITE® 242 is a medium strength, medium viscosity, methacrylate based, thread-braking product for general use. It provides a fast setting time of 5 min on steel, 15 min on brass, and 20 min on stainless steel. LOCTITE 242 is a thixotrope that prevents post-application migration and allows for quick release with standard tools.
LOCTITE® 243 is a medium strength threadlocker for general use. It secures and seals bolts, nuts, and studs to prevent any vibration-induced loosening. It is suitable for all metals, including passive substrates (e.g. stainless steel, aluminium, and plated surfaces). It is built to tolerate slight contamination by industrial oils (e.g. engine oil, rust inhibitors or cutting fluids).
